Licensing FAQ

Is the free Community tier really usable commercially?

Yes. mufem installed from PyPI is free to use for both academic and commercial work, with the full CPU solver and the core physics models. Paid tiers add GPU acceleration and specialized models, not permission to use the software.

What do the paid tiers add?

GPU-accelerated solving and specialized physics models on top of the free tier, plus support. The Community tier is fully usable for real work on CPU.

What happens when my Individual subscription lapses?

mufem falls back to Community-tier behaviour. Existing simulations and results remain yours; you keep full academic and commercial use of the CPU solver, without GPU acceleration and specialized models.

Do I need a separate licence per machine?

No. The Individual tier is tied to a single user, not a single machine.

Do I own the results I produce with mufem?

Yes. You retain full ownership of all meshes, simulations, and outputs you generate, under any tier.
